The Preschooler's Guide to Southern California!

Hello!

Welcome to the Preschooler's Guide Blog! I will be writing about the best places that I have gone with my son Isaac, who is 4, in Southern California.

We have gone everywhere and are currently developing a travel guidebook that will be available on January 28th, 2005.

I hope that you will write in my blog about the places that you have visited with your preschooler.

Today we visited the George F. Canyon Nature Center in Rolling Hills Estates. They are located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive E. in Rolling Hills, Ca (310) 547-8062. They are open Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 4pm.

We hiked thier 3/4 mile trail today. We didn't make it to the end. It is a straight trail 3/4 miles up and 3/4 miles back. It was beautiful. The trail begins at the nature center and is well marked. There is a map at the trail head just a little past the center. The markers are numbered and many also include signs with poems about some of the animals, birds, butterflies and brush. There is a sign that has information about animal tracks and has a cement spot on the ground with animal tracks embedded in it. It was fun for us to examine them and guess what animal made them. It was a great hike. There were other families on the trail today also. There is a discovery center inside the main building that has animals and other information as well as a little gift shop. The nature center offers a guided hike for $2 on the 1st Saturday of the month. Check thier web site for more info www.pvplc.org/georgef.htm

Tommorow we are starting our San Diego Sweep! We will be going to the San Diego Aerospace Museum and the Gillespie Field Annex. Isaac is wild about flight so it should be fun.

Where have you been? Let us know!
